News: Whale Watching with the Orcas of Puget Sound
Caught this gorgeous photo on the Whidbey Camano Islands tourist site. What an incredible neighbor to have. Seems like we should start planning to visit for the autumn Orca season!
News: Separation of Church & State
Who new the South Whidbey Assembly of God sponsored our annual 3rd of July fireworks in Freeland. And does anyone care? I just like fireworks and having the celebration on the 3rd suite me fine as I can't get enough fireworks. Alas this year we will miss for the 2nd year in a row (last year watched awesome show from the water in Poulsbo). We will be seeing what St. Simons GA has to offer. News: Coming soon to Langley
Heard this marine and sporting store is coming to Whidbey- woner is an adventurist
Coupeville: Mussels, Suds, & Pool
Love their mussels (they sell fresh by the pound if you want to cook your own), their homebrewed Parrot Ale, and playing pool. An institution in Coupeville. Lack of street appeal makes it easy to walk on by (good for us locals), but a don't miss recommendation from me.
Langley: Clyde Theatre
Step back in time to 1937 (projection system has been updated since then) and enjoy a movie that won't break the bank and where popcorn is still $1.
Langley: Mukilteo Coffee
Good coffee, food, and location and on occasion great music!
Coupeville: Lavender Wind Farm
The Lavender Wind Farm is fun place to visit and buy all things lavender (including ice cream).
News: Tracking The Tides
When you live on an island, spending time on the beach beomes part of the fabric of life (otherwise why live on an island). Whidbey has so many beaches to explore. I've been here several years and barely scratched the surface. I guess once I discover places I really enjoy, I tend to go back to them by default (creature of habit syndrome). It also doesn't hurt that I have a beach yards from my back door here on Sandy Point.
News: Clinton FerryCam
I like checking the ferry cam in order to try to minimize the wait up the hill. Nothing beats driving straight onto the ferry (except maybe being the last car on the ferry).
